Local Activities – You may already know exactly what you plan to do in this area but if not, Coldingham, Eyemouth and St Abbs offer a relatively unspoilt relaxing short-break, long weekend or holiday with lots of walks, fishing, boat trips, diving, surfing, kayaking (local tuition available), birdwatching.
Coldingham Sands has a café and beach guards in season with beach activities such as rockpool rambles. There are also guided walks to see nesting birds on the cliffs of St Abbs Head or you can observe them from a boat if you prefer.
There are some delightful cafes, pubs and restaurants in the area and we have full details of these and other places to visit in the Borders. You may wish to have a day-out to Edinburgh by car, bus or train.
Location – St Aebbe’s B&B is situated on the A1107 between Eyemouth and Coldingham, 3.5 miles from the A1. We are 50 miles from Edinburgh and 70 miles from Newcastle with Berwick-upon-Tweed 10 miles south. The coastal path is just across the field and we are 5 mins by car to Eyemouth and Coldingham beaches.
Public Transport Links – St Aebbe’s View is on the Edinburgh – Berwick-upon-Tweed bus route with Perryman’s buses service 253 Edinburgh/Berwick and 235 Berwick – St Abbs. Berwick train station is 15 mins by car, 20 mins by bus and further away is Dunbar train station, 25 mins by car, 50 mins by bus. The bus service from Edinburgh takes 1 hr 45 mins to reach here but takes a fascinating route through small towns and villages through East Lothian.
Further Afield – Both the Scottish Borders and Northumberland have much to offer for anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery, visiting castles and stately homes, coastal and country walks and exploring small towns and villages with individual shops and tea rooms.
